‘My life was completely swept away:’ Kittredge residents continue flood cleanup

KITTREDGE, Colo. (KDVR) — Residents in the small town of Kittredge continued cleaning up Saturday after rain and floodwaters ripped through homes and streets Wednesday night.

The cleanup of the flooding is expected to take months as homeowners and renters remove mud and water from their homes. In one home, the force of the mud and water knocked over a refrigerator.

“Everything is completely in water and mud,” Patrick Dennison, who lives in a home just off Columbine Trail, said. “It was horrible. I couldn’t believe it.”

Dennison was out of town when the storm hit and returned to find nearly all of his belongings destroyed, including a sentimental record collection, musical instruments, artwork and furniture…
