Denver Water promises to keep town of Vail in the loop as it weighs future of Piney River Ranch

The Denver Water Board on Wednesday shed a little more light on why the largest water utility in the state is only offering a short-term lease extension for Piney River Ranch north of Vail.

While Wednesday’s Denver Water Board meeting was not recorded, spokesperson Todd Hartman said the Piney discussion, which included remote commentary from various stakeholders, was purely informational and no definitive actions were taken by the board.

“Our CEO Alan Salazar also expressed appreciation for the tone and content of the public comments from residents of the Eagle Valley,” Hartman said in an email. “He also expressed his own fond sentiments of time spent time in the area as a youth. He reiterated DW’s commitment to collaboration and transparency with the Vail-area community and Denver Water’s commitment to environmental stewardship as part of our decision-making.”…
