Centennial issues new e-bike, e-motorcycle regulations

DENVER (KDVR) – As discussions persist surrounding the usage of e-bikes, e-motorcycles and similar vehicles, Centennial has issued new rules on them.

The city announced the new regulations in a Facebook post, which include where and when they can be used alongside safety requirements:

Some of those requirements are as follows:

  • Riders must be at least 16 years old to operate electric motorcycles
  • Helmets are required for riders under 18
  • License, registration and insurance requirements apply for electric motorcycles
  • Standard e-bikes may not be modified to increase speed

In addition, class 3 e-bikes and e-motorcycles are prohibited on trails and sidewalks, as the regulations are effective immediately. Officials developed the new rules in partnership with Arapahoe County.
