DENVER (KDVR) — A former Adams County undersheriff pleaded guilty Friday in Denver in a records scheme that allegedly involved former Sheriff Richard Reigenborn and former Division Chief Michael Bethel.
Thomas McLallen, formerly the Adams County undersheriff , pleaded guilty to charges stemming from his role in a 2021 scheme to falsify records and claim credit for state-mandated law enforcement training he did not complete.

In a plea agreement, McLallen pleaded guilty in Denver District Court to one count of second-degree forgery, a class two misdemeanor, and one count of first-degree official misconduct, a class one misdemeanor.
He was sentenced to serve 24 months in supervised probation and also ordered to write a letter of apology to employees of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
As part of the plea agreement, McLallen agreed to relinquish his state peace officer certification, preventing him from serving as a Colorado peace officer. Additionally, the agreement stipulates he must cooperate with prosecutors and be available to testify in any co-defendant’s cases.
