Suspicious package found to be harmless at Walmart in Thornton

A suspicious package prompted the evacuation of a Walmart store in Thornton Friday night.

Around 8:15 p.m., Thornton police received a report of a suspicious package at the Walmart at 9901 Grant Street.

Shortly after, the store was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

At 9:15 p.m. police posted on X that the Adams County Sheriff’s Department’s Hazardous Materials Unit was en route to the scene.

At 11:04 p.m. Thornton police reported that the suspicious item was “found to be no danger.”
