DENVER (KDVR) — On Saturday, hundreds of humans and their dogs were in Golden to celebrate National Golden Retriever Day.
Visit Golden, the city’s tourism entity, describes Goldens in Golden as the “unofficial world’s largest gathering of Golden Retrievers.”

Despite several inches of snow accumulating in Golden, hundreds of people and dogs, mostly Golden Retrievers, braved the cold for the event.
FOX31 was there with a camera to bring the Golden Retriever energy to those who couldn’t make it to the event.
There were group photo opportunities, giveaways, activities, dog-themed beers, a hot dog party, free pup cups for the good furry boys and girls and more along the streets downtown.
This year was the fourth year for the event.
“We never could have imagined that it would grow to be such a big event for Golden, to be recognized nationwide, worldwide even,” event founder Joy Meadows said. “Just the smiles on the people that are here despite the weather, I’ve never seen such a happy crowd.”
