Heavy snowfall in metro area prompts full-on response from CDOT crews

DENVER (KDVR) — With heavy snowfall in the city, Colorado Department of Transportation plows were out taking care of roads throughout the metro Saturday.

Officials said crews are expected to be on the roads throughout the evening and remain on standby even after the storm passes through the area.

“They’ve been doing a really good job in keeping the I-70 mountain corridor clear for the most part,” Tamara Rollison with CDOT said.

Snow is typically a given in the high country, but this weekend’s storm brought a heavy amount to the city.

“We are focusing on the entire metro area,” Rollison said.

CDOT’s operation to clear roads will focus mainly on parts of the metro where snowfall has been the heaviest.

“We have seen some heavier impacts on I-25 south of Denver between Castle Rock and Monument,” Rollison said.

All corners of the metro should expect to see crews on roads throughout the night and after the storm is over.
