Photos: Colorado NICU babies celebrate first Valentine’s Day

DENVER (KDVR) — Some of Colorado’s littlest residents celebrated their first Valentine’s Day at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora this week.

Residents of the Anschutz Medical Campus’s neonatal intensive care unit were given a photoshoot and some Valentine’s gifts to help welcome them into the world.

The babies were given special outfits and handmade blankets thanks to the members of Children’s Hospital’s Sunshine Committee. The committee is made up of NICU nurses, team members and volunteers at the Aurora hospital.

The Sunshine Committee helps families celebrate milestones and holidays so their babies’ “firsts” are still special, despite still being in the hospital.

The photos were taken by NICU nurses Bri Coy, RNC-NIC, and Andrea Himmelberger, BSN, RNC-NIC.
