Deion Sanders Singles Out ‘Horrible’ Part of Colorado’s OT Win

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes pulled out a thrilling 38-31 overtime victory in its Big 12 opener against Baylor on Saturday evening.

Amid the late-game heroics from Colorado stars Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders and others, head coach Deion Sanders singled-out an aspect of the game he was disappointed in.

“Special teams were horrible,” Sanders said, via the Denver Gazette’s Tyler King.

“Number one, we’ve got to do a better job of covering,” Sanders told reporters regarding how the Buffs’ special teams unit can be fixed going forward.

Colorado outpaced Baylor in total yards, 432 to 314 . However, the Buffaloes surrendered 210 yards in the return game, highlighted by a 100-yard kick return touchdown by Baylor’s Jamaal Bell.

“Sometimes guys don’t take special teams serious and at the halftime I told them, ‘Why do you think they call it special teams?'” Sanders added. “You’re supposed to be special when you run down there and do it.

“And we’ve got to get the ball in the end zone kicking off. We’ve got to do that. We can’t even give them the opportunity to return it.”
