New agreement approves train from Denver to Steamboat Springs

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Soon, skiers and boarders might not have to take the heavily trafficked roadways from Denver to some of the most popular Colorado mountains.

On Monday, Gov. Jared Polis announced an agreement with Union Pacific Railroad that allows access for a train to head from Denver to Hayden.

The 25-year lease is specifically for the Mountain Passenger Rail, which the governor’s office said would pass through the Moffat Tunnel and stop in Winter Park, Fraser, Granby, Steamboat Springs and Craig.
