Despite warm Denver forecast, experts suggest waiting a few more days to plant

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Experts at Denver Urban Gardens are urging aspiring gardeners to hold off on planting tender vegetables for a few more days.

In the Denver metro area, the general rule for planting is to wait until after Mother’s Day. With temperatures expected to soar into the 80s over the next few days, gardeners may be tempted to plant as soon as possible.

“Even though we have a lot of nice spring days the chances of a frost or even a snow in May is kind of possible so we just like people to be extra careful and not plant until after Mother’s Day,” Denver Urban Gardens Executive Director Linda Appel Lipsius said.
