Colorado suburb among fastest-growing in US after 9.2% population increase in one year

The United States Census Bureau recently released their report on which American cities and towns grew the fastest over the course of 12 months spanning 2023 and 2024. A lone Colorado spot ended up landing on the list of the 15 fastest growers.

According to the report, cities of all sizes around the country tended to grow on average during the period, with a lot of that growth centered in cities of the American South and West. The fastest-growing city nationwide on a percentage-basis was determined to be Princeton, Texas, which grew its population by 30.6 percent to 37,019 residents. Meanwhile, the fastest-growing population in terms of a numerical increase was that of New York City, which grew by 87,184 residents in a single year – about one percent of growth given that NYC’s population is over 8 million.

As far as Colorado goes, the town of Erie grew by 9.2 percent last year, bringing its population to 38,594. This growth was rapid enough to land the town as 15th on the list of fastest-growing cities and towns nationwide with a population of 20,000 or more.
