DENVER (KDVR) — The family of a 37-year-old man shot and killed by an Aurora police officer last May after police say he reached for his cellphone has filed a lawsuit against the city and the officer involved in the shooting, Michael Dieck.
The shooting occurred after law enforcement went to arrest Kilyn Errin Lewis at his apartment complex on May 23, 2024, for an active warrant for attempted first-degree murder, related to a shooting earlier that month.

The Aurora Police Department concluded its investigation of the incident in November, finding Dieck did not violate agent policy.
