DENVER — Denver International Airport’s 1,400 city employees will take mandatory unpaid furlough days this year despite the airport operating independently from the city’s general fund, which is short $50 million for 2025.
The furloughs, announced last week by Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, require all 15,000 city employees to take two-to-seven unpaid days in 2025. The number of furlough days depends on the employee’s salary.
DIA workers are going to be required to take the furlough days despite DIA being an enterprise, which receives no direct general fund tax dollars…
