DENVER (KDVR) — A wrong-way driver who had eluded a Colorado State Patrol trooper early Sunday morning died after a crash on Interstate 25 near downtown Denver, police said.
The crash happened on northbound I-25 and 20th Street, Denver police said just before 4 a.m. Interstate 25 northbound was closed for several hours Sunday morning at 23rd Street before reopening around 9 a.m.
CSP in a press release said a trooper on northbound I-25 near Mead encountered the wrong-way driver, who was in a grey Chrysler van, driving south in the northbound lanes at around 3 a.m. The van nearly hit the trooper, who then tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop…
