Colorado State Patrol joint operation cracks down on ‘reckless’ motorcyclists

Jefferson County, Colo. (KDVR)- The Colorado State Patrol and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office partnered up on Saturday to crack down on reckless motorcycle riders, and they feel it was a success.

CSP said it was important for them to perform this operation after a busy month of June, where they covered 11 fatal crashes and 43 injury crashes involving motorcycles.

Troopers coordinated with other local law enforcement to launch a crack down, tracking bikers from both the roadways and from high above.

CSP said it was a successful operation and shows the dangers of this type of driving. Three drivers were pulled over for reckless driving and one rider was taken into custody for felony eluding.

A total of 25 riders were contacted during the operation, 11 of which were driving 20 mph or more over the speed limit. Also in this operation, troopers noted 13 of the 45 vehicles contacted did not have license plates…
