Most lanes of westbound I-70 closed for semitruck rollover at Tower Road: police

DENVER (KDVR) — A semitruck rollover crash closed all but one westbound lane of Interstate 70 on Friday evening, leading to heavy traffic delays.

The agency warned motorists that at about 7 p.m., it planned to close all westbound lanes of I-70 to allow heavy tow trucks to remove the semitrailer from the highway. Then, the agency changed its plans, opting instead to offload the semitrailer’s cargo prior to it being towed.

The Aurora Police Department first reported that all westbound lanes of I-70 had been closed as a result of the crash, which was reported just after 5 p.m. to police and shared on social media at about 5:40 p.m. That was changed to all but lane closed.

The crash was reportedly a semitrailer rollover, and one person reportedly had minor injuries.

The agency also said that westbound traffic was being diverted onto Tower Road, but did not update on that detour after announcing that one westbound lane remained open…
