CSP to host sobriety checkpoints this August

(COLORADO) β€” The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) has announced that they are partnering with local law enforcement agencies to crack down on impaired driving. This operation includes holding four sobriety checkpoints on highways throughout the state of Colorado.

The checkpoints begin on Friday, August 15, on Highway 16 in Fountain, and another checkpoint, located at Highway 119 in Gilpin County, will start the same day. The next will be on August 22 on Hwy 550 in Ridgeway. After that, Archuleta County will have its checkpoint running on Saturday, August 23.

β€œThe primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety bydiscouraging motorists from driving impaired. Through high-visibility, responsible drivingenforcement events, troopers will also address those who make the poor decision to driveintoxicated,” said CSP in their announcement for these checkpoints…
