NATHROP, Colo. (KDVR) — If you had to pick the two most popular summer campers at Silver Cliff Ranch over the weekend, Chief and Jewel would win by more than a hair.
The fluffy, good-natured Samoyed dogs provided comfort and therapy for about 50 kids attending Camp Erin Denver, a bereavement camp for kids who are coping with the loss of a parent, sibling or others who are important in their lives.

For the past 12 years, Shimmering Wings, a Denver-based nonprofit that offers support for those who’ve suffered a childhood death loss, has organized the camp. More than 600 campers have attended since the first camp in 2013.
