Opinion: An owl, a porcupine, and a headless goose: Daybreak visitors during homelessness in Denver

It’s one of the most beautiful displays of nature I ever have seen. While experiencing homelessness in Denver, one cold winter night I fell asleep down by the Platte River, right beside the bike trail. One morning I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw, off in the distance, was a snowy owl in a tree staring at me. I was not scared but certainly was impressed by this grand creature. Then, in the blink of an eye, the owl took flight, swooping down the bike path just inches over my head.
