DENVER (KDVR) — Visibility in the Denver metro was limited on Wednesday, and many people could smell smoke from the wildfires burning in the western part of the state.
From Green Mountain in Lakewood, residents could barely see downtown Denver. The air quality index in Denver was moderate, not severe, but many people complained of scratchy eyes or a runny nose.

“If the sky is visibly opaque, if you’re feeling scratchy, itchy throat and eyes, that’s telling you there’s a fair amount of irritant in the air,” said Dr. David Beuther, a pulmonologist at National Jewish Health.
