The impacts of Denver’s layoffs are beginning to become clear as the mayor on Wednesday revealed the specific positions that were cut this week in a staff town hall.
A total of 169 people were laid off, 666 vacant positions were eliminated and 92 employees were transferred, according to documents obtained by The Denver Gazette from a source who attended Mayor Mike Johnston’s meeting.
“What drove these numbers across departments depends on how the department’s structured,” Johnston said in the town hall. “Some departments are heavily people. They’re 80, 90, 95% people with very few contracts, supplies and services. And those places had to absorb more personnel cuts.”…
