Attorney discusses parental liability in gun cases after Evergreen High School shooting

EVERGREEN, Colo. (KDVR) — It’s been less than a week since a shooting at Evergreen High School, and law enforcement is still investigating the 16-year-old boy who killed himself after shooting and critically injuring two students.

Two student victims who were shot remain in the hospital, one critical but stable and the other in serious condition.

Since the shooting, details about where the teen shooter got the weapon have been sparse, leading to questions about parental liability in terms of in-home gun storage.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office said the gun used was a revolver handgun of an unknown caliber. So far, FOX31 knows the sheriff’s office has warrants secured for the shooter’s home, phone and locker, and it is in close contact with his family…
