Meet the small businesses moving onto 16th Street to try and make the area cool again

DENVER — A group of local entrepreneurs is betting on the future of Denver’s 16th Street, opening new stores, bars and restaurants in a coordinated effort to bring local small businesses to downtown as the city invests heavily in the area’s revival.

Green Spaces, led by owner Jevon Taylor, will anchor the initiative by taking over nearly an entire block of 16th Street with gallery and event spaces, a marketplace with storefronts, art spaces, co-working areas, a coffee shop and bar. Taylor, who previously opened a Green Spaces location in Five Points, is bringing together several Denver-based small businesses to create what he envisions as a new cultural hub.

“I think the local shops are very underrepresented downtown,” Taylor said. “It currently doesn’t give you a very good feel of what Denver has to offer. We’re going to bring some of Denver’s top small businesses to 16th Street.”…
