Coyotes are killing dogs in the Denver metro area

With so much wildlife found in the state of Colorado, it’s crucial to keep a close eye on pets. A recent string of attacks on Denver metro area pets highlights exactly why that’s so important.

According to the Broomfield Police Department, three reports have recently been received related to dogs that have been killed due to coyote predation. The attacks have taken place in and around the Anthem neighborhood, which is located on the northeast side of town.

“Our hearts are with those who have lost their beloved pets,” reads a press release on the matter. “Broomfield is home to many wild animals, including coyotes, foxes, owls, hawks and eagles. These wild animals exist even in residential neighborhoods. While coexistence with wildlife is encouraged, so too is public safety. Unattended pets are seen by wild animals as prey.”…
