Safe2Tell stops possible drunk teen driver, prevents blackmail in near-record month

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado Safe2Tell saw its second-highest total reports in program history last month, highlighting increased vigilance across the state in the wake of the Evergreen High School shooting.

The increase of reports in September, 3,846, often follows major school safety incidents, according to Attorney General Phil Weiser’s Office in a press release, and does not directly connect to the event itself. The reports also still fall in line with the historic low of right around only 1% being false reports.

“Following the heartbreaking events at Evergreen High School, students and community members across Colorado are understandably on edge,” said Attorney General Phil Weiser. “Safe2Tell provides an opportunity to take action, because every report represents someone choosing to protect their community and look out for one another. That’s exactly the kind of vigilance we need to keep schools safe.”
