Deputy injured after semi crashes into parked patrol vehicle on I-25

DENVER (KDVR) — A deputy was injured after a semi hauling a trailer crashed into a parked Weld County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle on Interstate 25 on Wednesday morning.

Around 4:13 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol said it responded to a crash after a semi hit a Weld County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle that was parked on the right shoulder of I-25 behind an unoccupied Nissan Rogue, waiting for a tow truck after a DUI arrest.

State patrol said the semi ran off the road and into a ditch between Interstate 25 and Frontage Road. Just before 7 a.m., SkyFOX flew over the scene, where the semi was still on the side of the road.

A deputy was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, but was released later Wednesday morning. The state patrol said the semi driver didn’t report any injuries.
