HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (KDVR) — On Friday morning, dozens gathered in Civic Green Park in Highlands Ranch for the unveiling of the Kendrick Castillo Memorial Monument.
“The years just tick by,” John Castillo, Kendrick’s dad, said. “It doesn’t feel like six years, it feels like a week ago or a month ago.”

Kendrick was a student at STEM School Highlands Ranch back on May 7, 2019 when a fellow student at the school fired shots in the building. Kendrick along with a few fellow classmates stopped the shooter, but sadly Kendrick was shot and killed.
“The shooting plays in my head, we lost Kendrick,” John said. “I think, did he cry out for help? Was he killed instantly? What could I have done?”…
