DENVER (KDVR) — The National Weather Service issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation alert for the foothills, as strong winds with an increased fire danger are expected on Friday.
NWS said the Friday alert was issued for areas in and around Boulder and Jefferson counties due to the “potential for rapid wildfire spread.” A PinPoint Weather Alert Day is also in effect.

NWS provided a map of the areas under the Particularly Dangerous Situation. A Particularly Dangerous Situation is only for “rare situations,” according to NWS.
According to NWS, the foothills and along the CO 93 corridor could potentially see winds of 85-100 mph. Moving westward within the corridor, gusty winds of 45-55 mph could also be possible.
