Firefighters urge caution using fireworks for New Year’s Eve in dry conditions

DENVER (KDVR) — Aside from the Fourth of July, New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest nights of the year for fireworks around the country. Here in Colorado as dry conditions persist, firefighters urge people to think carefully before lighting them off this week.

Many people like to end the year with a bang.

“It’s definitely a week when people like to blow off a little steam and maybe blow off some fireworks,” Jonathan Ashford, a firefighter at West Metro Fire Rescue, said.
