New, luxurious private train cars are gliding into Denver’s Union Station.
Driving the news: Delaware-based startup Halloway is now booking high-end rail trips by hitching restored private cars onto the back of scheduled Amtrak trains.
- Current routes run from Los Angeles to Oakland and Oakland to Denver.
Between the lines: All are welcome aboard — if you can afford it.
- Tickets cost $18,500, though that covers up to six guests and two private railcars.
How it works: On the ride to Denver, guests enjoy “complete privacy” aboard the Evelyn Henry, a fully renovated 1954 Union Pacific sleeper car with six bedrooms, according to Halloway.
- Riders also get exclusive access to a glass-domed vista car, the Warren R. Henry, offering 360-degree views.
- An onboard chef handles every meal.
