Health officials warn not to buy ‘psychoactive’ PolkaDot brand chocolate bars, other items

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Department of Public Health & Environment is warning residents not to purchase or consume PolkaDot brand chocolate bars and other products marketed as producing psychoactive effects.

DPHE said testing of PolkaDot chocolate bars removed from shelves at three Denver retailers showed the presence of substances including psilocybin, psilocin, 4-ACO-DET, 4-HO-DET and 4-HO-MET.

The agency said retailers such as gas stations, smoke shops and convenience stores are unable to legally sell unregulated or mislabeled products claiming to contain psilocybin, as they may pose “serious health risks.”

In addition to infused chocolate bars and gummies, DPHE said other PolkaDot items include liquid shots and seltzers. The products are sold through online retailers and in smoke shops, convenience stores and gas stations across Colorado, as well as other states…
