Lafayette cemetery won’t allow grandfather to be buried next to wife

LAFAYETTE, Colo. (KDVR) — A family in Lafayette said they are running out of time as they try to figure out where to bury their grandfather after he passed away in January.

They said the city of Lafayette is telling them he cannot be buried next to his wife, despite burial plans that were made years ago. The family has about 20 days to figure out where to bury their grandfather, after being told he cannot be buried in the Lafayette Cemetery.

It was Fred Smith’s dying wish to be reunited there, where he and his wife, Norma Lee Smith, planned to rest together.

“Emotions, you know, immediately, there’s anger, there’s confusion, and then it moves into sadness that his last wishes won’t be granted, but hopefully it will be granted,” grandson Josh Sosa said…
