As Denver moves to replace Lime and Bird, concerns rise for low-income riders

DENVER — As Denver prepares to replace Lime and Bird with a single scooter and bike operator next year, some low-income riders and community groups said they worry the transition could disrupt a transportation program they rely on daily.

For Jared Sawyer, a discounted scooter ride was not a convenience. It was how he rebuilt his life.

“I was recently homeless,” he said. “I didn’t even have the funds for public transportation, so the Lime access was how I got around to not just my current job, but doctor’s appointments and anything else important that I needed to get to.”…
