Denver Teen Nabbed After Gun Toss In Lincoln Park Apartment Chase

A juvenile is in custody after what Denver police describe as a chaotic sequence inside a Lincoln Park apartment building on Monday, Jan. 19, when shots were reportedly fired, and a handgun went sailing over an interior railing during a chase.

Police Account And Evidence Recovered

In a Facebook post, the Denver Police Department said District 1 officers were dispatched to reports of shots fired at an apartment building in the 1200 block of N. Galapago Street. According to the post, the department’s drone unit located a discarded firearm and maintained visual on it until officers could move in and retrieve it.

Police said officers inside the building encountered a male they considered suspicious who was heading toward the fourth floor. During a foot chase, that person allegedly pulled out a handgun and threw it over an interior railing to the ground below. The juvenile was taken into custody without further incident, according to the post.

Officers said they recovered a second handgun from a front satchel worn by the suspect and later confirmed that one of the weapons had been reported stolen.
