Driver with 7 previous suspensions clocked going 50+ mph over speed limit

DENVER (KDVR) — A 27-year-old driver was clocked going more than 50 mph over the speed limit, but a Lakewood Police Department agent found even more after pulling him over.

Police said on Friday, an agent clocked a man reportedly driving 115 mph in a 65 mph zone on West 6th Avenue, near Indiana Street. This is near the Jeffco Fairgrounds.

When the agent pulled him over for going a “life-threatening” speed, police said they found that the suspect was driving with a revoked license and had seven previous suspensions. Police also found a handgun, which the driver is prohibited from having due to his prior history and criminal convictions, after searching the vehicle.

“Speed kills. Illegal weapons endanger us all. Drive responsibly,” police said in a Facebook post.

Police said the unnamed driver was arrested and booked into jail on several charges, which include reckless driving, speeding (40 over the limit), driving under restraint, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and no seat belt…
