Denver, CO, will experience snow showers over the mountains and higher foothills this afternoon and evening, with a possibility of moderate to heavy snow at times. The snow will be brief but may lead to snow-covered and slippery roads, especially at elevations below 7000 to 8000 feet above sea level. Motorists traveling along major mountain routes like Interstate 70 should expect delays and exercise caution.

Snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour or more may occur under the stronger snow showers. For areas along the I-70 corridor, snow accumulation is expected to be between 2 to 6 inches, while higher elevations may see up to 3 inches.
