West Metro Fire Rescue warns of scammers exploiting firefighter’s death

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — West Metro Fire Rescue is warning the public about a scam exploiting the death of one of their own.

The agency posted on Facebook that scammers are circulating messages and posts on Facebook using engineer Kyle Bartlett’s photo to trick people into clicking a malicious link. The messages may appear as news stories or memorial posts, West Metro said, and they often claim to share details or photos.

“They are designed to create an emotional reaction- and get you to click,” the post says. “DO NOT click the link.”…
