Why is there no snow in Denver as bomb cyclone rips through New England?

DENVER (KDVR) — Flights have been cancelled, blizzard warnings were issued and snow is piling up across the East Coast during a nor’easter, but in Denver, it’s 70 and sunny in mid-February.

According to the Pinpoint Weather team, La Niña is partly to blame.

Is Denver skipping winter and heading into spring?

It’s been unseasonably warm in Denver this winter. After the city saw its second latest first snow in history and the warmest start to the year on record, Denver is now on track for one of the least snowy years in history.

Compared to other parts of the country, Denver is far behind on snow. The warm state of Kentucky beat out Denver in start-of-the-year snowfall, and areas in Massachusetts and New York are now recording feet of snow. While these warm temperatures aren’t normal, Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels said this warmer year in Denver isn’t exactly unexpected…
