Driver going nearly 40 mph over in stolen truck crashes into light pole: Police

DENVER (KDVR) — A driver was arrested after allegedly driving a stolen truck nearly 40 mph over the speed limit before crashing into a light pole in Englewood on Wednesday morning.

Just after 4 a.m., the Englewood Police Department said an officer was patrolling on South Santa Fe Drive when they saw a truck going 91 mph in a 55 mph zone. The officer turned on the police lights and siren, but police said the driver tried to turn right and head westbound when they lost control and hit a light pole.

Police said the office rendered aid and secured the scene before the driver was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries.

During the preliminary investigation, police discovered the truck was reported stolen, and the driver had an active warrant for assault. Once the driver is released from the hospital, they will be transported to the Arapahoe County Jail…
