DENVER — A man accused in the shooting death of a 52-year-old Denver man last year was sentenced after pleading guilty to a murder charge Friday.
Court records show Giovanni Gonzalez, 19, pleaded guilty in Denver District Court Friday to second-degree murder. A first-degree murder charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 35 years in the Department of Corrections.
Gonzalez was charged with killing Aaron Roybal on Jan. 12, 2025. Denver Police said officers responded to a shots fired call that night at South Sheridan Boulevard and West Wyoming Place. When they arrived, they found Roybal dead from a gunshot wound…
