DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado State Patrol is warning the public of a scam claiming to be from a Colorado court, according to a social media post from the agency on Sunday.
The scam is delivered through a text that states that the recipient owes money to a court.

CSP said that a real court will never contact you by text message to request payment.
The agency offered some tips to verify a text:
- Look up the court’s official phone number, which will be available online
- Call during business hours to verify
- When in doubt, don’t trust the text
