Man arrested in connection with crash that seriously injured cyclist

GOLDEN, Colo. — A man has been arrested in connection with a crash that happened last month, the Golden Police Department announced on Saturday.

On March 25 at 8:10 a.m., police officers responded to a serious motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Johnson Road and U.S. Highway 6, according to a media release from Golden Police.

The bicyclist, identified as Kristyn Wade, was traveling southbound within the crosswalk on the west side of Johnson Road. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Ian Athas, was traveling westbound on Highway 6, according to police. At the time of the crash, Wade had the right of way in the crosswalk as the light rail traffic signals were activated for an approaching train, causing both east and westbound traffic signals on the highway to display a red light, police said…
