Drivers will ‘fly’ through the West Mixmaster by 2029. Here’s what to expect before then.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa– Drivers traveling west of the Des Moines metro should prepare for changing traffic patterns and long-term construction as work continues on a major reconstruction project along Interstate 80.

A new detour went into effect Monday night following the closure of the westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp at 60th Street. The Iowa Department of Transportation says the on-ramp will remain closed through Thanksgiving while crews complete a major concrete paving project.
