CLIVE, Iowa — An Illinois man was arrested for allegedly leaving a dog in a car during extreme heat over the weekend.
According to a criminal complaint, on Sunday just before noon, officers located a dog named Mira inside the vehicle of Tamer Kurtbogan of Illinois. Officers noted in the complaint that the windows were up and the air conditioning was not on.
The temperature for Sunday was forecasted to be in the 90s, with a heat index exceeding 100 degrees. Officers measured the temperature inside the vehicle with a heat sensor, which measured 101 degrees, the complaint states.

Officers also noted in the complaint that Kurtbogan had allegedly been advised the day before of the dangers of leaving an animal in a hot car.
