Des Moines Airport Authority, TSA Union respond to security privatization potential

DES MOINES, Iowa — Last week, the Des Moines Airport Authority announced that it is exploring participation in the new TSA Gold+ program, changing who provides security screenings for flyers.

TSA Gold+ is a new initiative that expands the TSA’s Screening Partnership Program. The program is already in place at 20 airports around the country, including at three direct destinations from Des Moines. The Screening Partnership Program gives airports the option of using private vendors for airport security with TSA oversight.
