DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines woman was sentenced to just over a year in federal prison for stealing nearly $30,000 in unemployment benefits while working for the state agency that processes those claims.
Victoria Tomeatre Green, 29, used her position as a contract employee at Iowa Workforce Development to fraudulently obtain $29,459.03 in unemployment benefits between March 2020 and December 2020, according to court documents. She submitted 25 false benefit claims under her own name and another 27 false claims using another person’s identity.
