MUSCATINE, Iowa — Authorities say a Des Moines man accused of shooting a Muscatine police officer is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
On Friday afternoon, the Muscatine Emergency Management Agency announced an active incident in the south end near Rosebowl and advised residents to avoid the area. A short time later, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office posted to its Facebook page stating a Muscatine police officer had been shot after a vehicle pursuit.
The Muscatine Police Department released more details overnight, stating the incident began around 5:12 p.m. Friday when a sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle being driven recklessly near Benham Avenue and Nebraska Street.
