According to a criminal complaint, on Wednesday afternoon, officers with the Ankeny Police Department responded to a 911 call where a woman claimed she was going to kill a woman and the woman’s mother before hanging up.
Responding officers arrived at an Ankeny apartment complex in the 2100 block of West 1st Street, where a criminal complaint states that they saw 45-year-old Dawn Lynn Hatfield stabbing the victim in the chest. Officers were able to take Hatfield into custody.
Court records state that the victim told officers that, before they arrived, Hatfield had a knife in each hand and tried to stab the victim. The victim said she was able to take one of the knives, but Hatfield pulled out a third knife and began attacking her again, according to a complaint.
