A Norwalk man is facing a Class C felony after police say he purchased a motorcycle that had been reported stolen.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Norwalk Police Department, 34-year-old Tanner Michael Cole is charged with first-degree theft. The complaint alleges Cole took possession of property valued at more than $10,000 with the intent to deprive the owner of it. According to the complaint, the motorcycle had an approximate value of $12,500, but Cole allegedly purchased it for $500. Police say Cole admitted purchasing the motorcycle but told investigators he did not know it was stolen.
The complaint says the seller did not provide Cole with an updated title. Police also allege Cole placed a fraudulent trailer license plate on the motorcycle rather than registering it.
